Emergency plumber in Islington, Camden and Haringey
- Turn off the water at the internal stop tap, usually under the kitchen sink or where the supply pipe enters the home. If water is near electrics, turn off the electricity at the consumer unit if it is safe to do so.
- If you live in a flat, tell the flat below and your landlord or managing agent. A leak from a shared pipe or the main stack may be the freeholder's responsibility.
- Ask for the call out charge, hourly rate and VAT before the plumber sets off. Many emergency jobs are charged by the hour from arrival.
- If you smell gas, do not call a plumber first. Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
If you buy at home or by phone, you usually have a 14 day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, but if you ask for work to start straight away you may have to pay for work already done.
