1. About the guide

1.1 North London Trades Guide is published by Tufnell House Ltd, company number 17520029, registered office 178 Junction Road, London N19 5QQ. Contact: [email protected].

1.2 The guide lists plumbing, heating and electrical firms that say they serve Islington, Camden and Haringey, including N19, N7, N5, N6 and NW5. We are a directory and referral service, not a trade firm. We do not carry out, supervise or guarantee any work.

2. How listings are made

2.1 Listings are free. We build them from each firm's own website and from public records such as Companies House. Each listing shows the date we last checked it.

2.2 Where a listing says a firm is Gas Safe registered, NICEIC or NAPIT, that is what the firm's own website states, with any number it publishes. We have not confirmed it with the scheme. Before any gas work, check the engineer's Gas Safe ID card and look up the number at gassaferegister.co.uk. For electrical work, check the firm on the scheme's own website.

2.3 Lists are in A to Z order. No firm can pay to change its position in an A to Z list or what its listing says.

2.4 We do not publish star ratings, and we do not copy reviews from other sites.

3. Featured partners (paid placement)

3.1 One firm per trade per borough may pay Tufnell House Ltd for a Featured partner box. It is always labelled "Featured partner (paid)". Being featured is advertising. It is not a recommendation, award or guarantee of quality.

3.2 A Featured partner box may show a tracked phone number run by us. Calls are connected to the named firm and may be recorded (see the privacy notice).

3.3 Featured partners agree separate partner terms with us, including that they hold the registrations and insurance they claim.

4. Your contract is with the firm

4.1 Any quote, booking or contract for work is between you and the firm. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (work done with reasonable care and skill, for a reasonable price, in a reasonable time) and, for contracts made at your home or at a distance, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (usually a 14 day cancellation right), are against the firm.

4.2 Always get a written quote, check registration and insurance, and agree the price, call out charge and VAT before work starts.

5. Accuracy and liability

5.1 We take reasonable care to keep listings accurate, but details change. Firms can claim or correct a listing at any time by emailing us.

5.2 Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for work carried out by any firm listed in the guide, or for loss caused by relying on a listing, because we do not do the work and are not party to your contract with the firm.

6. Complaints and removal

6.1 To complain about the guide, correct a listing, or ask us to remove one, email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 5 working days.

6.2 Complaints about a firm's work should go to the firm first, then to its registration scheme (for example Gas Safe Register, NICEIC or NAPIT) or to Citizens Advice consumer service, 0808 223 1133. We will remove a Featured partner that does not deal properly with complaints.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
